Meeting with a stranger

Teeth wrapped lovingly around
one another
hugging

hands everywhere
we curtseyed at the corners
laughed at the inevitable

cracks
a face a canvas
stretched to splitting
pinched

at the edges
cheek pockets full to bursting
burst all over the pavement
and I thought

for a second that
also split apart
in my hands and fell heavy

to the same floor:
I dared to think
I dared to think.
