I Pinned A Shark To Your Chest

I pinned a shark to your chest
with twelve safety pins.
Its mouth hung open
and its fins flapped above your heart like wings
when you walked.
You carried it around all week;
dragging the fishy carcass
that weighed so heavy on your chest
as a memento from me
(you said).
I knew what you meant
I had one of my own:
a deer Sellotaped to my back
whose slim limbs
scraped against the backs of my thighs.
